Geography 2050 (2021) Keynote: Pursuing Equity is a Team Sport

Maurice Jones, CEO of OneTen, discusses the disparities in quality of life based on geography and race in major metropolitan areas in the US. He highlights three examples of initiatives that are working towards equity: providing affordable housing in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on housing and high-opportunity areas in Charlotte, and the OneTen coalition’s commitment to hiring and promoting one million black talent into family sustaining careers over the next 10 years. Jones emphasizes the importance of removing systemic barriers, leveraging the private sector, making long-term commitments, and building a team of multiple sectors to achieve equity.
