PRELAUNCH UPDATE - APRIL 29th
Once again, I’m your host, Adam Simmons, bringing you another update of the Geospatial Frontier Virtual Technology Fair. With that said It’s going to be my last formal update before we go live with the event in the coming days. I know many of you have a lot of expectations I hope this event can meet them, but if not on day one then within the first few weeks so stay tuned.
However, before I get started giving you a recap of the current status I want to announce we are moving DAY 1 from May 1st to May 4th. That’s officially moving from this Friday to Monday. The reason why? It’s not that we are not ready it just comes down to timing. I’ve had several individuals and organizations point out that starting into a weekend might not be the best idea. I agree. I would love it if everyone can come into the event feeling motivated to engage each other rather than asking to spend your weekend checking out the tech fair competing with your home life. It’s only an extra 3 days to wait but now let me tell you what you have to look forward to.
The Geospatial Frontier now has over 200 registered to attend. The demographic includes some of the following: geospatial professionals from the armed forces; Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and various combatant commands. Organizations such as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, DNI, City municipals, and educational institutions. And plenty of professionals from industry and individuals who just want to learn more.
For those checking back on the launch page, you may have noticed that we are updating the schedule to reflect current speakers and panels. We are constantly adding more day by day. So far we have the following companies and organizations confirming their participation:
Presenters
Dr. Tanya Harrison
Karyn Hayes-Ryan
John Nelson
Sabrina Szeto
Tyrome Smith
Skot Waldron
Jeff Pearson
Dr. Chris Tucker
Companies/Organizations
CosmiQ Works
Planet
URSA Space

Kleos Space

Women in Geospatial+
American Geographical Society
The following Panels are being scheduled::
Emerging Space Panel
Intelligence Community Architecture Panel - Moderator: Dr. Cynthia Mendoza
Women in Small Business Panel
All those mentioned are confirmed or are being scheduled but we have many more in the works and even after launch day we will be constantly onboarding companies, presenters, and content for everyone to give reason to come back to check everything out.
If you are a company who wants to jump in on this reach. If you are an individual who wants to give a geospatial presentation of any kind, training, best practice, or cool trick of the trade we’d love to have you showcase your wears. Let’s keep this a living showcase.
In the last update, I mentioned the persistent chat we are integrated into the website. What we are is called Discord which is a popular communication application among gamers. Arguably due to its ability to discover other chat communities, it could be called its own social network too. For someone who uses nearly everything, I can tell you its one of the best and most versatile communication apps out there. I have the Geospatial Frontier Discord Server setup and with every participating company or live session, there will be a separate chat channel ready to go. For our final days of pre-launch I am opening up the Discord Server to begin communication and for everyone to familiarize themselves with what you can do. If you need help with Discord or joining our server or have any questions reach out to myself or Sydney Rice and we will get you set up. That goes with anyone out there.
As I wrap up this update, I’d like to once again thank Sydney Rice, Susan Dillinger, Ed Walsner, and Karyn Hayes-Ryan for helping me put this together for the community. I have a few more people that deserve the credit but I will leave that to our opening day. Thank you, everyone, for signing up and I look forward to showing you what we have put together!
So May the 4th be with you as that’s when I look forward to seeing everyone at the Geospatial Frontier event.
