Geospatial Frontier Announcement

OVERVIEW

I am announcing that Project Geospatial will be hosting the Geospatial Frontier Virtual Tradeshow. This will be an immersive, 30-day geospatial experience with the goal of bringing together industry and government during these turbulent times. Why am I doing this? The current crisis has caused the cancellation of multiple tradeshows. Sure, our industry can likely hold out until the worst has passed but these tradeshows benefit smaller companies who thrive more on the exposure for their emerging technologies and government who especially in recent years championed innovation that is showcased at these events. Project Geospatial has always been committed to increasing awareness of industry technology, best practices, and education resources. Our effort for nearly 10 years has thrived in a purely virtual outreach effort and I want to leverage that experience to create a virtual technology fair for the industry. We have several goals for this event:

  • Make this conference a 30-day interactive experience; meaning that the schedule will have periodic keynote speakers with live broadcasts scheduled on a weekly basis throughout the month of May from industry and government alike.

  • Give analysts, tactical mission personnel, and geospatial hobbyists a chance to see the industry’s latest technologies, which is often a privilege for the select few who get to attend such tradeshows.

  • Give industry a chance to receive insights from government personnel, gaining unique perspectives of their workflows and current technology requirements without traditional acquisitional barriers.

  • Foster collaboration between industry and government personnel through new creative mediums.

The Geospatial Frontier virtual fair will be a dynamic living web gallery that creates an innovative and evolving digital experience staging updates of industry companies’ products and services. My goal is to have key industry leaders to provide mission updates, present unique projects and partnerships, and moderate virtual discussions on the latest in geospatial industry trends in a revolving schedule throughout the month of May. New content will be added constantly to drive return during the active duration of the conference and after the conference, the content will persist but transform into a digital industry library of best practices and industry technology demos. In addition, all content will be pushed through Project Geospatial’s distribution network and air on our podcasting streams.

There are many non-profits in our community and individual with a unique project to showcase or training material around open-source projects. I want to invite you all to not just attend but participate too. Send us pre-recorded training material or volunteer to host a live session to discuss your project or material. Just like government organizations, this is FREE for you to attend and contribute.

IN SUMMARY…

The website for the event is already complete, it just needs the people and content to fill it. Some who I have already contacted have called me ambitious for doing this but those who know my roots might say, it’s about time I did something like this. And I agree. It fits the mission statement of Project Geospatial. The way I see it there isn’t much to lose and everything to gain from all of us bringing this event together. So I ask everyone to bring your passion for the industry that I have and let’s show off how amazing being apart of the Geospatial Frontier really is.

Everyone is welcome to register now at the link below which also happens to be the launch page for the conference too. Sponsor package information, questions, or concerns, please email me using the next button.
